Purest loving heart, our Spring '25 concert, will showcase the remarkable flexibility and imagination of the plainsong,. Featuring music by Maurice Duruflé (his deeply moving Requiem and Missa Cum Jubilo), coupled with the purest plainsong (but never plain!) of Hildegard of Bingen (Columba Aspexit). Also included are other colourful works by Gustav Holst (an eight-voice setting of Ave Maria for female voices) and Cecilia McDowall (The Lord is Good - an intensely expressive setting for two soprano soloists and choir based on the Lamentations of Jeremiah).
The Byrds will be joined on this occasion by organist Stephen Hargreaves, Mezzo-soprano Susan Marrs, Baritone Damian O'Keeffe and cellist Stephen Laidlaw
