SUMMARY:Just as the tide was flowing
DESCRIPTION:Just as the tide was flowing is the intriguing title for our S
ummer '25 offering. We offer for your consideration an entertainingly vari
ed programme of music showcasing the versatility of the William Byrd Singe
rs.\n\nThe choir will be accompanied by harp to perform our librarian's fa
vourite choral work ever\, Gustav Holst's shimmering\, scintillating Chora
l Hymns of the Rig Veda (Group 3)\, for women's voices and harp\, setting
texts that Holst translated from the original Sanskrit himself.  Surround
ing this\, music by Vaughan Williams (his English Folk Song settings)\; Po
ulenc (Chanson à boire)\; Saint-Saens (Calme des nuits)\; and Matyas Seib
er (Nonesense Songs) contrast wonderfully with works by Byrd\, Shaw and M
acDowall\, and we end with Bob Chilcott's lovely arrangement of the famous
Londonderry Air (O Danny Boy).\n\nUnfortunately\, due to personal circums
tances Maxine Molin is no longer able to join us but we will are thrilled
to welcome Kathryn Mason in her place. \n\nFor full event details\, visit
